County Approves $11 Million ELAPP Land Purchase

ELAPP
Hillsborough County Commissioners recently approved the acquisition of 1,085 acres from Pulte Homes close to FishHawk Ranch for an environmental preserve .

In an area increasingly consumed by the construction of new homes and businesses, Hillsborough County's Environmental Lands Acquisition and Protection Program (ELAPP) recently received approval from the county commission to purchase 1,085 acres of land it will manage as a preserve, giving residents and animals a little guaranteed green in the continually developing Brandon area.

Po’ Boys Creole Cafe Now Open In Albertson’s Plaza

For a taste of New Orleans, visit the newly opened Po' Boys Creole Café, located in the Albertson's Plaza at Bloomingdale Ave. and Providence Rd., in the former spot of Jordan's Restaurant.

The menu features wraps, several salad options, Creole delights, down home dinners and about two dozen varieties of Po' Boy sandwiches, among other things. The children's menu offers fried shrimp, ham and cheese Po' Boy, chicken tenders and more.

Bob Stamper readily admits to being a "Chet-aholic." This interesting term refers to the Riverview resident's appreciation of the influential style of the country music great, Chet Atkins, who passed away in 2001, and is the reason Stamper recently brought an interesting new guitar group to Riverview.

"Chet Atkins was a master at finger style guitar playing," states Stamper, referring to the unique playing style that allows a skilled guitarist to play both the base and melody at the same time.

When it comes to grocery shopping, Valrico resident Kim Meyer loves a deal and at the newly opened Super Saver she is happy to find hundreds of them. The discount, no frills supermarket opened in March on S.R. 60, just east of Lithia Pinecrest Rd., in a spot vacated by its sister store, Albertsons, and its low prices are attracting customers from all over the Brandon area.
