Harley's Home Cookin'

The big item these days in the "sweet treat" line is the fudge brownie. Well there are times that you just want to be different than the rest of the world. Here is one that I got a long time ago from someone, lord knows who or when. One of these days I'll start recording the information. Anyway try this on for size for a different twist to the brownie. You may make a hit with the family and friends.

Fudge Nut Bars

Ingredients:

BOTTOM & TOP LAYER:
This is total mix for both bottom and top.
1 c shortening
3 c oatmeal
2 c brown sugar
2 ½ c flour
2 eggs
1 tsp. soda
dash of salt

MIDDLE LAYER:
1 large package of chocolate chips (2 cups)
1 can sweetened condensed milk
4 Tbsp. butter (melted)
½ c walnuts

Directions:

  • Mix top and bottom ingredients together and pat half into bottom of jelly roll pan. (15x10x1).

  • Mix the middle layer together as follows

  • Melt the chocolate chips (without scorching). Then add the rest of the ingredients. Cool slightly and pour over the bottom layer. Cover with the remaining topping.

  • Bake for 25 minites + at 350 degrees.

  • Cool and slice into your desired sizes.

  • Most of all have fun!
