Residents Open Homes To Katrina Victims

By Kathy Dotson

The Baudoin family of FishHawk Ranch recently opened the doors of their home to family members from Louisiana fleeing Hurricane Katrina. Their family members are planning to have to stay in Lithia for months while waiting to return home and are seeking an apartment or home to rent.

Frank "Nelson" Carver, Jr. always knew his daughter Joni was an angel. After he and his wife Joan, grandmother Millie, great-aunt Katherine, daughter, Robyn with her husband Woody and her two children Justine and Joshua evacuated their homes in St. Bernard's Parish, Louisiana, Joni didn't hesitate to make room in her home.

"We evacuated Sunday morning and Katrina hit Monday morning," said Carver of his hometown of Chalmette, Louisiana. "We're not allowed back in yet, but we will eventually go back and recover whatever we can."

Two decades of training, conditioning, self-discipline and determination later, Lacy now holds super middleweight titles in the International Boxing Organization (IBO) and International Boxing Federation (IBF). His fights have been televised on Showtime's pay-per-view channel.
