Steak n’ Shake Finds Riverview Home

By Sharon Still

Riverview will be getting its first 24-hour sit-down restaurant when Steak ‘n Shake opens in late December or early January on Bloomingdale Ave. in front of Home Depot. According to a company spokesperson, the 4,200-sq.-ft. restaurant is scheduled to be done with construction in mid-December and will open soon after.

Famous for steakburger sandwiches and milkshakes, Steak ‘n Shake started back in 1934 and now has more than 430 restaurants in 20 states. Today, it sticks to the original traditions of grilling food cooked to order and delivering it on china plates to your table. Of course, there also is a drive-through.

Riverview resident Justine Kindya is looking forward to Steak ‘n Shake opening so close to her home. She comments, "I get the convenience of fast food, but the quality of a fine restaurant. All that and a chocolate shake to die for."

No matter what time of day, area residents will be able to sink their teeth into steakburgers, sandwiches, salads, chili and much more. Additionally, the fountain offers hand-dipped, real-milk shakes, freezes and malts, old-fashioned sundaes and flavored soft drinks.
