It is not very often that people are invited to have breakfast with a champion, but you could be dining with Olympic medal winners Brooke Bennett and Maritza Corriea at the Brandon Sports and Aquatics Center (BSAC) this month.
As part of its Breakfast with the Champions fundraiser, BSAC is offering residents the opportunity to meet with Bennett, Corriea and other athletes including world class diver Chris Colwill, para-Olympic gold medalist Sue Moucha and world-class coaches Peter Banks and Joe Greenwell, to hear about their experiences in the sports world as well as learn more about BSAC, a non-profit organization providing sports programs for all skill levels.
"This is a great opportunity for BSAC to increase our community awareness," says Anne McFee, the center's executive director. "We have programs to suit all types of athletes and so many people in our general area have no idea what we offer."
Starting at 7 a.m. on October 28, tours of the facility and demonstrations from the club's many sports teams will be offered to ticket holders.
Tickets should be purchased by October 14 and a number of contribution opportunities are available, starting at $125 for program recognition and an individual ticket and ranging to a platinum sponsor for $5,000, which includes a priority table for 10 guests, a celebrity at the table for the meal, program recognition and a picnic at the facility for up to 150 guests.
"We are really looking for the community's support," says McFee. "As a non-profit organization that benefits minors, we have no outside funding and as we try to keep our programs affordable for everyone we are coming up against rising costs. We hope this will turn into an annual campaign that the community enjoys."
For more information, contact McFee at 689-0908 ext. 13. BSAC is located at 405 Beverly Blvd.
