Riverview Chamber Finds New Home

By Sharon Still

The Greater Riverview Chamber of Commerce's new office at 10520 Riverview Dr. offers the staff more than the space of its previous office in the Winthrop Barn Theatre and also features a Board room. An official ribbon cutting ceremony will take place on Saturday, April 29, and will coincide with the announcement of Riverview's new honorary mayor (see separate story page 13).

Now that the chamber is settling into its new space, there are a lot of exciting things happening. Firstly, the chamber is forming an education committee, Connie Lesko recently announced. "Because of the importance of education to all of us and the interest expressed by many members, we have decided to make this our very first ongoing subcommittee," Lesko stated in the announcement. The first meeting was held in early March and consisted of a brainstorming session about the purpose of the committee and about different ways the chamber can support the schools and teachers in the Riverview area.

In other chamber news, due to the overwhelming success of the Taking Care of Business Leads Group, a second leads group has been started to help Riverview chamber members expand their businesses. The new leads group meets every Thursday at 11:30 a.m. at the ABC Pizza on U.S. Hwy. 301.

Also, the chamber's biggest fundraiser of the year, the annual hog roast, is scheduled for Saturday, April 22, 5-11 p.m. at Lupton's Boggy Bottom Ranch in Plant City. Sponsorships and silent auction items are needed.

Make a note that the mailing address for the chamber will remain P.O. Box 128, Riverview, FL 33568 but the new phone number is 234-5944 and the new fax number is 234-5945. The chamber's email address also has changed to riverviewchamber@tampabay.rr.com while the Website remains www.riverviewchamber.com.
