Stagedoor Gears Up For Production

By Lisa Lambson

Could you imagine getting married and then finding out that you have to live with your new husband's six brothers? Well that is the basic story behind Seven Brides for Seven Brothers, the play currently in rehearsal at Stagedoor Productions.

In conjunction with Music Theater International and under the direction of Domin Pazo, Stagedoor will perform the play in July.

The play tells the story of a backwoodsman named Adam and his new bride Milly, who marries him after knowing him for only a few hours. They return to his backwoods home, only for Milly to discover he has six brothers that all live with him. Milly sets out to reform the uncouth siblings, who are anxious to get wives of their own. She proceeds to teach Adam's younger brothers manners and social graces, including how to dance. Confusion and mayhem abound in the story as Adam and Milly assist the brothers in finding and winning over six sisters for their very own.

Stagedoor Productions Inc. is a Florida non-profit corporation that produces up to five community theatre plays a year with no paid employees.

According to Pazo, "Stage Door has been putting on plays in the Brandon area for over 10 years on a strictly volunteer basis. One hundred percent of the profits we receive are used to provide quality performing arts opportunities for the community to be involved in and to enjoy. So be sure to come out and see our show."

It is the dream of Stagedoor Productions members to grow enough to build a Brandon Performing Arts Theatre and there are three easy ways to support the groups and performing arts in our area.

1) Become a member of Stagedoor Productions

2) Purchase tickets to the shows

3) Advertise in the Stagedoor Production programs

Auditions are open to the public.

Seven Brides for Seven Brothers will take place July 6, 7 and 8 at 8 p.m., July 9 at 2 p.m., and July 13, 14 and 15 at 8 p.m. at Limona Village Chapel, 408 Limona Rd. in Brandon. Doors open at 7:30 p.m. for the evening shows and 1:30 p.m. for the matinee. Tickets are $10 for seniors and students and $12 for adults and are available at the Osprey Observer, 900 Lithia Pinecrest Rd., and Green Boutique, 1014 Bloomingdale Ave. Be sure to pick up a flyer from the Bloomingdale Campo YMCA or the Bloomingdale Regional Library to have $2 donated (with ticket purchase) to Campo YMCA or The Friends of the Library.
