Avenya Sponsors Realtor Mini Golf

By Tamas Mondovics

What do you get when you set 72 local Realtors free on a mini-golf course? When the event is the second Avenya Fun Day Sports Challenge, the answer is a lot of laughs.

The event, held recently at the ACE Golf range in Riverview, gave local Realtors the opportunity to get together and network while competing for the coveted trophy.

As lead sponsor for the event,Avenya Mortgage rounded up more than 30 local businesses and made sure that everyone present put deals and daily worries aside and enjoyed the outing that came with just a pinch of competition.

"This was a morale booster as well as a demonstration of our appreciation of all realtors in the area," says Stacey Hirn, Avenya public relations and marketing director.

This was the second of such events organized by Avenya Mortgage. The first was held in February, at the Thunder Bird Boiling Center in Ruskin, but was limited only to South Shore area realtors.

Michael Fitzgerald president and CEO of Avenya Mortgage mentioned that it was time to extend the funday to all realtors in the community.

"The response was so great that we wanted the sports challenge to continue and be a quarterly event because it helps everyone to unwind, have fun and get to know each other," says Fitzgerald.

After a short introduction by Hirn, the competition started and there was no shortage of cheers, screams and laughter as the 18 teams of four realtors made their way through the 18-hole putt-putt course.

"It was definitely low stress," says Hirn. "We want everyone to have a good time."

"It is great to see so many from the trade and have a nice time together," says Jeff Chandler from River Hills Realty, who attended the event for the first time.

A highlight of the event came mid-way through the challenge when Lisa Seckley of Exit Realty, who was heard to say at the beginning "Are you suppose to make it in two?" made a hole-in-one while blind folded.

The door prizes weren't too shabby either. David "The Chief" Madden from Weichert Realty won a $250 family portrait sitting from Huth & Booth Photographic Artists.

There were many winners at the event, since the final score was based not only on putting achievement but on team-spirit as well. The trophy, however, went to Keller Williams, Realty, Valrico.

Everyone is looking forward to the next event which, according to Fitzgerald, will most likely be a summer beach volleyball challenge.
