Construction is now underway at The Bridges, a 23-acre continuing care retirement community in the Winthrop-area, located off Bloomingdale Ave., between Patterson and Watson roads.
Connecting independence with the amenities of an assisted living facility, The Bridges will provide 416 residents with the freedom of independent living, all constructed under Valrico-based Franklin Development, which has completed such projects as Pine Grove Reserve, FishHawk Trails, River Hills and Cambridge Cove, all since 1982.
With a variety of options to choose from, the community will offer 82 villas ranging from 1,400-1,800 sq. ft., 115 condos measuring 550-1,100 sq. ft. and an assisted living facility estimating 78,000 sq. ft. with 101 beds. With six varying floor plans, the villas have two to three bedrooms and an attached garage. The condos, on the other hand, offer five floor plans with one to three bedrooms. These homes give residents variety while providing upgrades such as granite countertops, wooden cabinets, crown molding, ceramic tile and much more.
"Our goal is to make our homes as elegant as we can," states David Vaughan, president and CEO of Brandon-based Senior Care Group, Inc. which was started in 1983, delving in housing and healthcare for seniors. "It's going to be affordable, accessible, reliable and there at all times to meet the need."
Starting at $249,000 for the villas and $119,000 for the condos, residents have the opportunity to purchase property or rent, with amenities, starting at $2,150 a month. There is also an HOA fee of $295 which includes water, cable and maintenance. For a membership fee of $750 a month, residents can use the recreational facilities at the Cambridge Club, have 10 meals a month and have emergency response access. Providing physical, mental, spiritual and leisure care, the Integrative Senior Care Center will also be accessible to residents.
According to DeCe Cain, director of operations for the center, "There are two reasons that we are unique: you can choose, you are in charge, you have choices and second, you can purchase a condo or villa, sell or rent it." So, if residents choose, they can have the luxury of having needed services within walking distance while still owning their own home or if they feel they need more direct contact with staff, they have the option of moving within the Claridge House assisted living facility which will have 50-60 certified nursing staff. In closing, Kevin McGuinness, developer, adds, "Know that we have your interest at heart. We want to meet your needs."
