Shop Local Ribbon CuttingLocal Businesses are getting excited about something these days. It is the idea of being embraced by their community and supported as a local small business. With the new Shop Local campaign in the Osprey Observer and on www.ospreyobserver.com, local businesses can link efforts and put forth the message that yes, people are going to watch what they are spending but just maybe, they will also watch where they are spending and make a choice to Shop Local and keep dollars in the local economy instead of overseas.
Valrico advertising representative and Small Business Marketing Seminar speaker Shannon Carlton was excited about the campaign.
“This gives my clients something to embrace and it is all about supporting small businesses.” When asked what the Shop Local campaign is, Carlton describes it as a program that businesses can sign up for and receive a window decal and a poster to identify them as a Shop Local business. Then, they are connected to the www.osprey observer.com website and weekly contest where residents list favorite local businesses and can win prizes.
Hundreds of local residents have already signed up and won prizes including tickets to the Disney on Ice show, restaurant gift certificates and services.
Visit www.ospreyobserver.com and click on the Shop Local symbol for more information. Also, see Carlton’s small business marketing tips online. If you would like to receive an invitation to an upcoming Small Business Marketing Seminar, email shannon@ospreyobserver.com. The seminar includes a complimentary lunch and marketing tips including how to get a press release published and free things you can do to market your business.
