Brandon South Rotary will kick off its Rotary fundraising for 2008 with a MadHatter Tea Party scheduled for Cross Creek Ranch in Dover on Saturday, February 23, 2 p.m. The event, with MadHatter hostesses selected from the Brandon community to sponsor tables of eight attendees promises to be an enjoyable afternoon.
"We will have our MadHatter hostesses decorate their hats and seek donations from within the crowd," said Brandon South Rotary president and St. Petersburg Times Promotions Coordinator Irma Davila. "Whichever hostess collects the most votes of dollars from the event wins the MadHatter hostess prize."
The event will include tea tastings from local businesses, a silent auction and live music from Bloomingdale pianist Amanda Cooley. Food will be provided by Chick-fil-A, Lake Brandon Village, Jaymer Que Southern BBQ, Honey Baked Ham, Peterbrooke Chocolatier, and tea by mobile tea party company Lah Tea Dah.
Silent Auction prizes include a one-week stay at a cabin in North Carolina, one month of piano lessons, a free advertisement in the Osprey Observer Newspapers, Chick-fil-A basket, one night's stay at The French Country Inn Bed & Breakfast at Cross Creek Ranch and many more.
Tickets for the event are $20 per person or $150 for a table of eight. Table hostesses will be asked to decorate their MadHatter hat, which will be provided.

All proceeds will benefit service projects and future efforts of the group.
Past fundraisers have included delivering office lunches and plant sales in the community.
The Brandon South Rotary District 6890, Club 28395 earned its charter in 1991and was established by Betty Jo Tompkins, a longtime local resident, Rotarian and Past District Governor.
