Joining with Homes by John C. Fowke, the Tampa Bay Builders Association (TBBA) and FishHawk Ranch’s Newland Communities, Dick Vitale, a prominent ESPN basketball analyst, will be present at The 2008 TBBA Showcase Home to help raise funds for The V Foundation for Cancer Research, continuing its fight against cancer.
Taking place on Tuesday, April 15 at “The Cellini” by Homes by John C. Fowke, located at 5902 Alana Leigh Pl. in Lithia, Vitale will take center stage, socializing and entertaining guests while also acting as an advocate for pediatric cancer. Being The 2008 TBBA Showcase Home, a project which occurs annually during the TBBA’s Spring Parade of Homes which displays spectacular homes averaging costs within the proximity of $1 million, “The Cellini” reigns within the Garden District of FishHawk Ranch where it maintains a magnanimous square footage of 3,446 with Tuscan flair, costing a whopping $1.26 million. While there, Vitale will be auctioning basketballs immortalized with his signature. With 100 attendees expected, the three businesses plan to donate all contributions to The V Foundation for Cancer Research.
“The charitable contribution is part of the commitment that we make, together, when featuring the Showcase Home,” states Newland Communities Marketing Manager Dawn Turner, who mentions that Newland Communities has participated in the event seven out of the eight years it has run. According to Turner, “It is their [residents] chance to support cancer research with the benefit of getting up close and personal with Dick Vitale in an intimate environment, the 2008 Showcase Home.”
Here, residents will be able to contribute to the battle against pediatric cancer through their admission donation of $100 with doors opening at 7:30 p.m. For $350, or $500 per couple, residents have the opportunity to be VIP guests, gaining access to a special gathering from 6:30-7:30 p.m. while having the chance to obtain photos with Vitale as well as an autographed book. With hopes of $20,000 being accumulated, 100 percent of the proceeds will find its way to The V Foundation for Cancer Research, a charity founded by Jim Valvano, former North Carolina State basketball coach and a notorious broadcaster on CNN, who died battling cancer.
The foundation has accrued over $70 million since 1993, awarding research grants for cancer to 37 states nationwide.
