This year’s seventh annual FishHawk Area Networking Group Back to School Festival will benefit local needy children with back to school supplies. With more than 80 local business booths, samples from 10 restaurants, music, extracurricular demonstrations, exhibits from the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office, Hillsborough County Fire Rescue, free giveaways, door prizes, there is lots to do. And, new for this year, General Motors Southeast Region will have a 2010 Chevy Equinox (32 mpg!) and a 2010 Yellow Bumblebee Camaro from the Transformers movie will be available for test drive at the FANG Back to School Festival.

The Back to School Festival is scheduled for Saturday, August 8, 9 a.m.-12 Noon at its new location at the FishHawk Youth Sports Complex on FishHawk Blvd.. Admission is free but $10 worth of new school supplies or a $10 cash donation is requested that will benefit the YMCA migrant children effort and FYSA. Last year, more than 400 students benefitted from the result of the event.

In addition to 80 food and business booths, Theatre Arts & Dance Alliance (TADA) will MC the event with performances from TADA, Music Showcase and Sidekicks Martial Arts. There will be family friendly games and activities. Chick-fil-A, Lake Brandon Village, Formaggio’s Pizzeria and more will provide samples.

“We are excited that FANG is bringing this great, family event to the complex,” said FYSA board member Ron Waller. “We are also happy to be sharing our facility with the community.” In addition to food, event and business booths, representatives from all the sports complex teams will be represented to talk about fall registration requirement.

The event is sponsored by the St. Pete Times/Brandon Times, Osprey Observer, TADA, YMCA and Chick-fil-A Lake Brandon Village. For more information, visit www.fangconnect.com, call Denise Graf at 813-643-0730 or email dlgraf@tampabay.rr.com.
