By: Kelly Legg

tim_blackTim Black, associate pastor of First Presbyterian Church (FPC) of Brandon, was almost certainly destined to become a Presbyterian minister since the day he was born. Like his father, and his two grandfathers, Black would eventually follow his calling into the life-changing world of ministry. In an effort to “break the cycle,” Black, graduated from Penn State University with a degree in Education.  Laughingly, Black joked, “Teaching middle school may have sent me into the ministry.”   But, as with most callings, his was clear and strong, and Black eventually entered and graduated from Pittsburgh Theological Seminary with a Masters of Divinity.  It was during this time that Black experienced several life changes: He was ordained, got married and decided to move to Florida. “I felt drawn to this area, and I flew down here to interview with a different church,” said Black.  Although he had contacted First Presbyterian Church (FPC) of Brandon, he had not been able to schedule an interview during his visit. Headed back to the airport, Black decided to take a quick detour to find FPC.  Locating the church wasn’t easy
