Are you looking for something fun to do this weekend? From painting to dance, there is something for everyone occurring in the Brandon area this weekend.

On Friday, October 22, Center Place is hosting “Masterpieces, Martinis and More!” from 6 to 10 p.m. For $40 for an individual or $70 for a couple, you can create a masterpiece with the help from Patty Sisco of Sketch and Sip. You will also enjoy dinner and a chocolate martini. What a great date night or fun night out with the girls.

The Pottery Patch located at 2551 S.R. 60 East in Valrico is hosting a “Think Pink Party” on October 22. The Pottery Patch will be open until 11 p.m. so you can create and paint to help make a difference. A portion of the proceeds will go to the Vera Bradley Foundation for Breast Cancer Research

If going to the theatre is more your style, then go see Stagedoor Performing Arts’ opening performance of Neil Simon’s Plaza Suite. Opening night is Friday, October 22 at 8 p.m at Limona Fellowship Hall located at 408 Limona Road in Brandon. The show runs October 23, 24 (performance at 3 p.m.), 29 and 30 at Limona Fellowship Hall. There will be two special performances at Center Place on November 5 and a Dinner Theatre on November 6.

Theatre Durant is performing Tim Kelly’s It Was a Dark and Stormy Night on October 22 at 7 p.m. at the Durant High School Auditorium, 4748 Cougar Path in Plant City. For tickets call 757-9075 ext. 280.
If you like to dance, The Way 2 Dance located at 610 Oakfield Dr. in Brandon has several fun dance opportunities during their “4th Weekend” extravaganza. All weekend they will host Social Dance Parties each night. Friday is a Dance Party. Saturday is Swing Dance, and on Sunday you can dance to Latin rhythms. For more information call 966-4788.

In the southern part of the county, you can enjoy continuing festivities of the Big Draw. On October 22, come out and enjoy “Creative! Mira Bay.” The Gallery at the Welcome Center will be open on Friday and Saturday from 10 a.m. 6 p.m. and on Sunday from noon to 6 p.m. “Creative! Mira Bay” is a showing of artwork by residents of Mira Bay.

On Saturday, October 23, beginning at 6 p.m, the Valrico Village Players present Scott King’s Halloween Time Art Show. Tickets are $10. The festivities take place at the historic James McCabe Theatre located at 506 5th St. in Valrico. For information call 689-0044.

If gaming is more your style and you want to help support local non-profits, the Brandon Rotary is hosting a Texas Hold’em and Casino/Comedy Night at Beef O’Brady’s at 9331 Adamo Dr. in Brandon from 7 to 10 p.m. For tickets and information, contact Scott Carter at 315-2976.

On Sunday, October 24, bring the little ones to Center Place for the 13th Annual Halloween Horribles Parade. Children through the age of 10 are invited to take part in a Halloween parade at Center Place located at 619 Vonderburg Dr. in Brandon. Along the parade route there will be treat stations. Tickets are free but limited to the first 800 children. For information call 685-8888.
