With the weekend fast approaching, people are getting ready for well deserved time off to spend with family and friends. Are you looking for something fun to do? There are so many great events going on this weekend. Let this be your guide to locate fun events in the area.

Stagedoor Performing Arts will continue its run of Neil Simon’s Plaza Suite on Friday November 5 at 7:30 p.m. at Center Place of Brandon located at 619 Vonderburg Dr. in Brandon. Tickets are $10for members of Center Place and $12 for non-members. For tickets and information call 685-888. This is a great opportunity to see live theatre performed by your neighbors in Brandon.

The Pottery Patch is the place to be if you like to paint and create your own piece of art. On November 5 beginning at 7 p.m., the Pottery Patch located at 2537 S.R. 60 E. in Valrico is hosting Pottery, Paint and Wine! Come design and paint your own “Give Thanks Platter.” Registration is required, so call 643-0014 to register and get more information on this fun and interactive event.

Karaoke anyone? If you are fan, then you have to go to “Las Vegas Rock Star Karoke” at the Embassy Suites located at 10220 Palm River Rd. on Friday, November 5 from 7 to 11 p.m. Cost is $30 per person or $55 per couple. This includes admission, beer, wine and food. This is a fundraiser for Mike Self’s (of S&S Tacos and Stuff) run for Honorary Mayor of Riverview. Self’s charity is Hand to Hope.

If you have fun searching for antiques and unique gifts, then you need to visit the Outdoor Holiday Event at The White Rabbit Antiques Shop located at 207 S. Parsons Ave. in Brandon on Friday, November 5 and Saturday, November 6 from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Dog lovers will find nothing but happiness at Plaza Bella’s “Wagapalooza” on Saturday November 6 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Come celebrate all of our four-legged friends. Several dog rescue groups will be on hand. There will be dog contests, photographs, raffles, vendors and a free mini makeover by Mobile Pet Groomer, Joann. Plaza Bella is located on Bloomingdale Ave. in Valrico just east of Bell Shoals. For more information call, 685-9494.

The Brandon Ballet will perform dances from their upcoming performance of “The Nutcracker” at Barnes and Noble at the Brandon Town Center on Saturday, November 6 from 10 a.m. until 12 p.m. Come out and support Brandon Ballet and get some of your holiday shopping completed!

The Brandon’86 Rotary Club is hosting its 18th Annual Denizen’s of the Deep Southern Family Fish Fry on Saturday November 6 from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Rotary’s Camp Florida located at 1915 Camp Florida Rd. in Brandon. Tickets for adults are $25, teens ages 13 to 18 are $10, and children under 12 are free with a donation of a canned food item for ECHO.

The Creative Native Gallery’s 3rd Annual “Arty Ornament” Sale will kick-off on Saturday, November 6 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. The Creative Native is located at 5307 N. Falkenburg Rd. in Tampa. The 22nd Annual Ruskin Seafood Festival will be held on Saturday, November 6 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and on Sunday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at E.G. Simmons Park located at 2401 19th Ave. in Ruskin.
