A Kid’s Place founder Dottie Berger-MacKinnon gives a tour of the emergency children’s foster facility to Tampa Bay Buccaneer’s linebacker Tyrone McKenzie.

A Kid’s Place is currently looking for individuals who are interested in becoming full-time House Parents, with salary and benefits.  Interested candidates may be single or a married couple.
House Parents live in the residence with the children and provide youth with a strong parental role model while implementing a professional family-style program that emphasizes skill acquisition and personal development and a safe, secure and nurturing environment in which to grow and learn.   House Parents work eight days on premises and then are off for four days (off-premises).
House Parents are involved in teaching social skills, self-help skills, academic skills, and independent living skills. They administer the day-to-day operations of a family residence including documentation, domestic responsibilities, and other assigned duties. The House Parents serve as important members of the Services Team which regularly reviews each child’s case to determine appropriateness of services being provided.
Due to the limited space in the living quarters available to our House Parents, while they are working on-site, we are not able to accommodate children of House Parents on our premises, nor are we able to house dogs or cats weighing over 15 pounds.
The following are requirements in order to be considered for the House Parent position: A high school diploma or equivalent with Bachelor’s degree preferred; at least two years of direct experience providing services to children; previous experience as a House Parent is preferred; and ability to pass a federal, state, and county criminal background check and drug screen.
These positions are a vital part of the team that ensures that the children entering our doors are given the best care possible in a warm and loving environment.
If you want to make a difference in the lives of abused and neglected children, this might be the special need you are meant to fill. Please submit your resume to the following email address:  akidsplacetb@gmail.com.
