Motorists should continue to avoid the intersection of Windhorst Road and Parsons Avenue in Brandon while repairs are made to a section of pavement which collapsed Tuesday.

One northbound lane of Parsons and the westbound turn lanes on Windhorst are closed. Additional detours and lane closures are possible as Public Works crews begin the repairs.

Motorists who must travel through the intersection are urged to exercise caution around the workers, observe traffic control measures, and expect delays.

It is not known at this time how long the work will take or how long traffic will be impacted.

It is not clear yet why the 6-foot-square section of roadway collapsed. Public Utilities crews determined Tuesday night that the collapse was not caused by a sewage line break.
