Come out and honor breast cancer survivors such as Brandon resident, Antionette Cuellar at the 4th Annual "Plaza Bella Goes Pink" on Saturday, October 22 at Plaza Bella in Valrico. Cuellar was the featured speaker at last year's event.

Plaza Bella will host the fourth Annual “Plaza Bella Goes Pink” on Saturday, October 22. To the delight of many, attendees can participate in either the “Diva Strut” which runs from Plaza Bella to the Bloomingdale Library and back, or the 5k Challenge which runs from Plaza Bella to Nature’s Way and back.
The Green Boutique underwrites the entire event. As such, 100 percent of the funds raised go to either the American Cancer Society or the Vera Bradley Breast Cancer Foundation. The cost to participate is $40 for individuals or $35 per person for a team of five or more. You can pre-register at the Green Boutique. Day of registration begins at 8 a.m. All registered participants receive a T-shirt and a new Vera Bradley shopping bag.
The day’s festivities are kicked off with a moving speech by a local breast cancer survivor. Both the “Diva Strut” and the 5k Challenge are led by survivors beginning at 9 a.m. For those who wish to honor family and friends who have been afflicted with breast cancer, they can donate $5 for a pink ribbon to line a pink pathway. Last year 300 participated and $16,000 was raised for breast cancer research.
The festivities will continue after the “Diva Strut” and 5k Challenge with entertainment by local DJ, Chris Heath of Big Beat Entertainment, raffle drawings and specials from all of the small, family owned businesses located within Plaza Bella.
Roz Creager, owner of The Green Boutique and Plaza Bella, said, “This is a community event. I feel it is my responsibility to give back. I would like to see the day when women no longer have to choose to have a breast removed to fight breast cancer.” Creager is a member of the American Cancer Society Board and has been through the American Cancer Society’s Volunteer Leadership Program.
The Green Boutique has been serving the community for 30 years. It will celebrate its fifth anniversary in their current location on Monday, December 5. Look for details on an anniversary celebration in the next few months on the Website at www.greenboutique.net or call 685-9494.
Plaza Bella is located at 1078 Bloomingdale Ave. in Valrico.
