St. Stephens Catholic school hosts monthly BINGO games to help financially support it’s school.

St. Stephen’s Catholic School (SSCS) recently celebrated 10 years of BINGO fun.
Julie Gonzalez, assistant principal at SSCS explained, “BINGO was organized for years by a core group of dedicated SSCS teachers and parents.”
BINGO at St. Stephen’s has been supporting the school since 2001 when the school started. This ministry has raised money for the education of the students.
For years, the core group of the BINGO ministry was composed of parents, teachers and faculty including Michelle Green, Nancy Shirina,  Laura Cichanski,  Bonnie Rose, Carin Shadwick and Sammee Wizda.
After years of hard work, the BINGO ministry is now being supervised by SSCS assistant principals, Linda Mazurek and Julianne Gonzalez.
“We wouldn’t be where we are today without their thousands of hours of volunteering,” said Gonzalez.
Games are hosted every second and fourth Thursdays each month. Doors open at 5 p.m. for an early seating with BINGO beginning at 6:30 p.m. The church is located at 5049 Bell Shoals Rd. in Valrico.
A delicious menu of hot dots with all the fixing’s, pizza, nachos, hot pretzels and homemade desserts, are baked by family members of the school and sold during the games.
Principal, Therese Jackson said, “BINGO is important because the capital comes from the community, not just our school families.”
Teachers and parents volunteer  time and tasty treats to ensure an enjoyable evening with lots of fond memories of being with family, friends and knowing that they are helping the youth in their own community.
BINGO cards are $15 for each person and includes a jackpot game of $250 as well as a 50/50 game. Door prizes are awarded throughout the evening as well as free popcorn.
