The Florida State Fair, known as “The Best Time Of The Year,” is coming to the Florida State Fairgrounds beginning on Thursday, February 9 and running until Monday, February 20. The Fairgrounds are located at 4800 U.S. Hwy 301 N. in Tampa.

“We look forward to growing the Fair every year. We do this by adding new food and entertainment,” said Scott Merselis, Marketing and Public Relations Manager for the Fair. “While we like getting bigger and better, we want to always keep our focus on core agriculture, education and family values,” added Merselis.

This year’s Fair will feature all of the traditional fair foods, rides and entertainment. Fair goers will get the chance to sample some new food items including kangaroo sliders. “This is an interesting and tasty sandwich,” said Merselis.

The Fair will offer Xtreme Sports Show on select dates in the Sweetbay Entertainment Hall. The shows will be at 12 p.m., 3 p.m. and 6 p.m. The shows are free. There is no show on Wednesday, February 15.

The Leroy Van Dyke Country Gold Tour featuring the talents of Leroy Van Dyke, Lynn Anderson, Gene Watson, Janie Frickie and T.G. Sheppard will be offered for two shows on Wednesday, February 15 at 12 p.m. and 4 p.m. Admission for this classic country performance is $10.00 and is not included in admission to the Fair.

The 2012 Florida State Fair is going high tech this year with the Florida State Fair App for your iPhone or iPad. This is a free app and can be downloaded from the iTunes store. This interactive app will provide users with a multimedia rich experience during their visit to the Florida State Fair.

The Fair is open Monday through Thursday from 10 a.m. to close and on Friday through Sunday from 9 a.m. to close.
Admission tickets and Midway Ride Armbands (valid on February 9, 10, 12, 17, 19 and 20 only) can be purchased at the Fair Box Office on the Fairgrounds, online at www.FloridaStateFair.net or by calling 1-800-345-FAIR.You can save $4 off Admission Tickets and $5 off Midway Ride Armbands from participating Sweetbay Supermarkets. Gate Admission Prices are $10 for adults 12 and older, $5 for children ages 6 to 11 Monday-Friday. On Saturday and Sunday, the Admission Price is $12 for those over the age of 12 and $6.00 for children ages 6 to 11. Children ages 5 and under are free.
