Phil Provenzano and The Jazz Xperience will perform at the United Methodist Church of Sun City Center on Friday, January 27 at 6:30 p.m. This concert is the first of three concerts in the Church’s Jazz Series.

If you love jazz, then mark your calendar for some upcoming exciting performances at The United Methodist Church of Sun City Center located at 1210 Del Webb Blvd. West in Sun City Center. The Jazz Series is part of a year round series called, “Thank God It’s Variety.”
The first concert features Phil Provenzano and The Jazz Xperience on Friday, January 27 at 6:30. p.m. in the church sanctuary. Phil’s ensemble is a main stream, straight ahead jazz combo that was originally formed to perpetuate the West Coast jazz sounds of musicians such as Gerry Mulligan and Chet Baker. Since its inception 20 years ago, the group has grown to include other mainstream jazz styles including their own unique sound.
The second concert will feature the Mike Markaverich Trio, a local band from Sarasota, on Friday, February 24. They are a traditional jazz trio, and they play the standard jazz favorites.
On Friday, March 23, you can hear the Boulevard Jazz Orchestra. This is a 16-20 piece big jazz band with multiple vocals and a variety of styles. If you like music from the 30’s, 40’s, Big Band, Dance, Dixieland, Jazz and Swing, this Tampa based band is for you.
According to Jeff Jordan, Minister of Worship Arts, “A lot of folks asked for more jazz in our regular entertainment series which offers anything from comedians to country music to fold to jazz. We designed the series just for them,” Jordan added, “Jazz buffs won’t want to miss any of these stylistically different ensembles.”
“We host events like this because we want people to visit the church. The facility itself is just a great venue for music. It’s not too big or cavernous and has great acoustics,” said Jordan.
Concert goers are encouraged to arrive early for a good seat. A donation of $5 is requested at the door.
