They say laughter is the best medicine and in this case it’s also a great fundraiser. On Thursday, February 9, the MOM’s Club of Lithia-Bevis will be hosting its second FishHawk Comedy Night to benefit Pediatric Multiple Sclerosis. This year, comedian hypnotist Doug MacCraw and comedian Jim Fredrick will be keeping the audience in stitches. From the wow factor that is sure to be delivered by MacCraw to the hilarious parody of current events by Fredrick, the night is destined to be a success. Doors at The Palmetto Club will open at 6:30 p.m. with the show starting at 7:45 p.m. Tickets include the show and dinner, which will be catered by Puff n Stuff. Dinner will be served at 6:45 p.m. There will also be a raffle, a 50/50 and a cash bar on the night of the show.

Pediatric Multiple Sclerosis is a rare disease. The fact that it is uncommon can make it challenging to both diagnose and treat. The MOMS Club chose this particular charity because of a speaker some of their members saw on a fundraiser ride for MS. The speaker was a little girl who had Pediatric Multiple Sclerosis. Her presentation was so moving and inspiring to the MOMS Club members that were present, that the chapter as a whole decided to dedicate the funds raised from FishHawk Comedy Night to help fight this rare disease. MOMS Club President, Kristen Weber said that the goal of this night is to increase awareness that Pediatric Multiple Sclerosis does exist. She said, “There is a great need for funding for research that will allow these children to continue to grow and play with their peers.”

The first FishHawk Comedy Night proved to be a success for the MOMS Club. With a sellout crowd three years ago, they raised $8500 for the Special Operations Warrior Foundation. When asked why comedy, Terri Fischer of the MOMS Club said, “It’s different than other fundraisers. We wanted to appeal to the whole community and to bring the community together in a fun way. Everyone likes to laugh.”

The MOMS Club is also looking for local businesses to donate items for the raffle. To get involved, please contact Terri Fischer at dntfischer@msn.com. Tickets are $40 per person, $75/couple or $300 for a reserved table of eight. To learn more about the MOMS Club and Pediatric MS or to purchase tickets, go to www.fishhawkcomedynight.com.
