Representatives of Dinosaur World, the Plant City Chamber and Plant City Mayor Dan Raulerson were all in attendance for Dinosaur World’s expansion opening in February.

For more than 13 years, Dinosaur World, founded by Christer Svennson, has been a destination attraction for Plant City and eastern Hillsborough County. A popular destination for school field trips and weekend fun for families with young children, on February 29 Dinosaur World officially opened their exciting 12 acre expansion to the public.

“This is a great day for Plant City,” said Plant City Mayor Daniel Raulerson. “Dinosaur World has long been an attraction for Plant City and we are looking forward to even greater success. Congratulations.”

Dinosaur World’s expansion includes a new entryway arch with dinosaurs perched on top, a larger parking lot with plenty of room for school buses bringing kids on field trips, a 5,000 sq. ft. gift shop, two new playgrounds and expansions on areas like the fossil dig.

“The most exciting part of the expansion is the new museum, which is home to rows of authentic fossils, including dinosaur teeth and eggs,” said Nicole Randall, marketing director for Dinosaur World. “Then, of course, we have the animatronic dinosaur scene which has everyone’s favorite dinosaurs including a T-Rex and a Pterodactyl.”

Members of the Plant City Chamber and many families were in attendance for the expansion opening, with the young children ready to see the ‘live’ dinosaurs and break in the new playground equipment.

Before the first walk through of the museum could begin though, Randall made sure to thank the Plant City Chamber and Mayor Raulerson for all of their support. “We have had a lot of people help us get where we are today and we are proud to call Plant City and the Tampa area our home.”

Dinosaur World is open 9 a.m.-5 p.m. from November-January and 9 a.m.-6 p.m. from February-October. Ticket prices are $11.95 for youths ages three-12, $14.95 for adults and $12.95 for adults older than 60.
