The Florida Academy of Performing Arts (FAOPA) is pleased to present the smash hit Legally Blonde The Musical on Thursday, May 24, and Friday, May 25, at 8 p.m. and Saturday, May 26, and Sunday May 27, at 2 and 8 p.m. The musical will be performed at The Winthrop Barn Theatre, located at 11349 Bloomingdale Ave. in Riverview.

Legally Blonde The Musical is directed by Tammy Modica. The cast consists of many talented local actors who have been rehearsing for several months.

Legally Blonde The Musical is based on the novel Legally Blonde by Amanda Brown and the 2001 movie of the same name. It tells the story of Elle Woods, a sorority girl who enrolls at Harvard Law School to win back her ex-boyfriend, Warner. Elle Woods discovers how her knowledge of the law can help others, and she is instrumental in the acquittal of a famous female exercise guru.

According to Tina Pietrzyk, assistant academy director of FAOPA, “Our last performance of The Wedding Singer was wildly successful. Many other local theatre groups competed for the opportunity to obtain the license to Legally Blonde. We were the only local group granted permission. We feel honored to be the only group to perform for this area.”

At the performances, attendees will be offered light refreshments, and during the evening performances, cocktails will be offered to the adult audience.

Tickets for Legally Blonde The Musical are available online at www.faopa.org. Advanced purchase tickets are $12 for adults and $10 for youth (12 and under), senior (55 and up) and military. Tickets at the door are $15 for adults and $13 for all others.
