The Ellis family, of Riverview, was thrilled to be a recipient of the Painting from the Heart grand prize of an exterior home paint job donated by Rob Silver, owner of Dynamic Painting USA. Jason and his wife, Angelica, have five children. Jason is an Iraq war veteran who was wounded in action.

What started as a charitable endeavor and way to give back to the community for local businessman and interior/exterior home painting and repair company, Rob Silver, owner of Dynamic Painting USA, has morphed into an annual campaign called “Painting from the Heart.”

Starting in 2010, Silver began this program, asking local residents to nominate families who really needed a paint job. That first year, Silver selected two families, one-a single mom in Brandon and the second a family in Bloomingdale.

This time around, for Mother’s Day, Silver is once again offering to paint an exterior home for free and is hoping to surprise a single mother or parent in need of a paint job, in addition to some additional home makeover elements thanks to other local businesses.

Narrowing down the entries to pick a winner has always been difficult for the Mason, Shriner and Rotarian. “It’s going to be a tough decision,” he told me when I started sending him entries. And it was.

Silver ended up painting two homes last winter. The first was for Riverview resident Jason Ellis, whose wife, Angelica, wrote in. Jason is an Iraq war veteran who was wounded in action and needed an exterior home paint job. Jason and Angelica have five children and were thrilled to have been selected.

The second winners were Dale and Peggy Weir, whose daughter, Angela, wrote in for them. Angela, a single mom herself, wanted to do something nice for her parents and their Brandon home was in need of an exterior home paint job.
“They have always given everything they have for their family,” said Angela. “They never think of themselves and we all just can’t believe our family won.”

For this edition of the campaign, Silver has partnered with Tonya and Andrew Walsh from Walsh Commercial Cleaning who have agreed to throw in carpet cleaning as well. In addition, Marie Gilmore from the Osprey Observer has offered a massage to the winner from Divine Designs.

Silver is once again asking residents to nominate a deserving family. Please fill out the entry form and submit a photo of the exterior of the house.

The deadline is Monday, May 1, with the winner being chosen later in May in order for the winner to be notified by Mother’s Day.

“I’m really excited that I’m in a position where I’m able to award a single mom or parent with a paint job,” Silver said.
