The newest Walmart Neighborhood Market held a Greater Riverview Chamber of Commerce ribbon cutting to mark the opening of the 24-hour store located just west of Winthrop Town Centre.

A new, more convenient option for shopping at a favorite low-priced store for a few necessities in a hurry is now open for business in Riverview. Walmart Neighborhood Market on the southwest corner of Bloomingdale Ave. and Providence Rd. in the Bloomingdale Hills Plaza held a ribbon cutting in March and opened its doors to people eager to see the new store and spend their money.

Located in the nearly 60,000-sq.-ft. space formerly occupied by Albertson’s, Walmart Neighborhood Market offers a quick and convenient shopping experience for customers who need groceries, pharmaceuticals and general merchandise all at Walmart’s famous everyday low prices. Distinguishing features include convenient parking, less crowded aisles and quicker checkout.

Departments include a bakery, fresh produce section, general groceries, organic items and a fresh deli as well as a garden center, pharmacy and one-hour photo. For those on the go, there also will be a large variety of prepared foods. Additional items available include stationery and paper goods, health and beauty aids, pet supplies and more.

“With our smaller format, our store is perfect for those on the go. Whether they’re stocking up or need to pick up just a few items, our customers will be able to find what they need quickly and easily,” said store manager Ronald Freitas.
“Our customers will be able to find familiar brands and local products at great values, right in their own neighborhood.”

Riverview’s Walmart Neighborhood has put about 90 people to work, many newly-hired and some transferred from area stores. Freitas refers to the staff as “truly a team”.

“Walmart provides job opportunities and career choices for everyone from seniors looking for supplemental income to young people wanting to gain work experience,” Freitas commented. “We hit the jackpot with these associates.”

As part of the grand opening festivities, the Riverview High School (RVHS) ROTC presented the colors while the school’s choir sang the national anthem and its cheerleaders performed the Walmart cheer, followed by Greater Riverview
Chamber of Commerce ribbon cutting ceremony, marking the official grand opening of Walmart’s newest Neighborhood Market.

The store, located at 10863 Bloomingdale Ave., is open 24 hours a day, seven days a week and can be reached at 261-3596.
