Kayak Valet offers families and friends a unique and adventurous way to enjoy the outdoors this summer

Are you looking for something fun to do with the family or try a new team building outing with the office? Kayak Valet is a unique and adventurous way to spend a day bonding out on the river.

Thom Alderman was inspired to start up Kayak Valet during the challenging economy to help make enjoying the outdoors easy and affordable for others. Kayak Valet provides kayak and paddleboard rentals to several locations throughout central Florida. The most popular launch locations include Ft. DeSoto Park, Dunedin Causeway, Williams Park and Holmes Beach.

“Not everyone has the time, strength or desire to deal with loading, unloading, transporting and storing their own equipment,” said Alderman. “That’s why we come to you with everything that you need so that all you have to do is show up, paddle and enjoy.”

No specialized training is required to enjoy a kayak outing, as Kayak Valet uses touring sit-on-top kayaks and paddleboards to help users go longer distances with less effort. Some of the things that kayakers need to remember to bring for a day out include a driver’s license, cash or credit card, sunscreen, bottled water or sports drink, sunglasses or hat, watch or cell phone (in a waterproof bag), water shoes and weather appropriate clothing.

“On a typical day, we will launch the kayaks just inside the park, on calm clear water, and then paddle to the beach where we will take a break,” said Alderman. “Once there, you can walk along the beach or swim and then we paddle back. The total time on the water is about an hour and a half.”

Kayak Valet offers several different rental rates depending on the number of people participating. One person kayaks are $16 per hour or $40 for a half day and two person kayaks (which can fit up to three people) are $20 per hour or $50 for half day. Families of five-six can enjoy a day fun for the price of $72, which includes two two-person kayaks for a two hour rental. There is also a 10 percent group rates discount for groups of five or more people.
