Car Show, Candy & More At South Shore United Methodist Trunk Or Treat
By Alissa Bridges
South Shore United Methodist Church (UMC) is getting into the Halloween spirit this year with car trunks full of Halloween scenes, the chance for little ones get in some early trick-or-treating and movies on the lawn that the whole family will enjoy at the second annual Trunk or Treat.
“We’re excited to host a fun, safe event where families can enjoy the festive decorations in the car trunks, trick-or-treat and get into the Halloween spirit,” said Reverend John Legg, head pastor at South Shore UMC. “It’s an event that the whole community can come and enjoy.”
Car enthusiasts will also have the chance to indulge in some eye candy by checking out the professionally detailed cars that will be a part of Trunk or Treats car show. Russ Persad, who is actively involved in a local car group, heard about Trunk or Treat from Legg and believed that a car show would be the perfect addition to the event.
“Our car group enjoys going out to events not just to show our cars, but to get involved in our community. We are all excited to be a part of Trunk or Treat because it is a fun event where families with their kids can get together, look at the cars while we give out candy and have a good time,” said Persad.
Trunk or Treat will take place on Sunday, October 28, from 5-9:30 p.m. The movies on the lawn will kick off with Scared Shrekless at 6:20 p.m. and The Goonies at 6:45 p.m. and those who plan on attending are encouraged to bring lawn chairs.
South Shore United Methodist Church is located at 11525 Big Bend Rd. in Riverview. Those interested in registering their cars for the event can e-mail Alissa Bridges at Alissa@southshoreumc.com. For more information on the event, visit www.southshoreumc.com.
