Across the country, members of Ameriprise Financial participated in the 3rd Annual Ameriprise Financial National Day of Service on Friday, November 16. Locally, Edwin G. Treimanis, a Certified Financial Planner with Ameriprise Financial, organized a group of volunteers to celebrate this National Day of Service.

Employees, clients and others participated, along with Treimanis, and volunteered at ECHO of Brandon. This is the second year that Treimanis has organized a group to work at ECHO. “I want to keep this tradition going every year. ECHO is a great organization which helps residents in the greater Brandon area,” said Treimanis.

The volunteers worked all day picking up food from local schools who participated in a Fall Food Drive. They sorted the food and packed food orders for clients of ECHO. The volunteers also sorted, organized and hung clothes at ECHO.

Stacey Efaw, Executive Director of ECHO said, “During the holidays, the demand for food assistance often increases three to four times above normal levels. It is very hard for our volunteers to keep up, so it nice to have groups such as the ones from Ameriprise come and lend an extra hand.”

Joni Damico, Center Director for ECHO added, “It is always good to have new volunteers come and help at ECHO. They get to see what we do and how we help our clients. They often walk away with a good experience. Hopefully they will pass these onto to others and inspire them to help as well.”

Nationally, Ameriprise Financial encourages groups to organize volunteers to help the nearly 49 million Americans facing hunger issues each day. Treimanis said, “I would like to challenge other companies, social groups and churches to have a National Day of Service.”

Treimanis is a Platinum Financial Advisor, CFP with Ameriprise Financial. He started 25 years ago and has been serving the residents of the greater Brandon area ever since. He now has a second location in Lakeland. “I would like to thank my friends, clients and employees that volunteered their time during the Ameriprise National Day of Service.”
