The fifth annual Osprey Observer Bunco will be held on Tuesday, February 5 at 6:30 p.m. This year Bunco will take place at a new location, The Bridges, located at 11202 Dewhurst Dr., in Riverview (across with from Winthrop Town Centre).

The Bridges have graciously donated their Community Center for our use. Tickets will be available beginning Thursday, January 10, and will be limited so reserve yours quickly.

The Osprey Observer Bunco raises money for the Osprey Observer Relay for Life team, which will participate this year at Newsome High School on Saturday and Sunday, March 23 and 24. “We have all been touched in some way or another by cancer, and by participating in a team at a local Relay for Life event, it gives us a chance to get involved and fight together for a cure,” said Osprey Observer Editor, Marie Gilmore.

Where can you get a night out with your friends, meet new ones along the way, and get to play Bunco for a good cause for only $15? There will also be plenty of good food and wine, which is included in the price. Prizes will be given out to the winners.

To help further the cause, a lot of great prizes will be raffled, along with silent and live auction items.

The Newsome High School Relay’s theme this year is movies, and appropriately, the Osprey Observer has chosen “Nine to Five”. More important is the goal, which is to raise $10,000 for The American Cancer Society. Suzy Wiesenhart, who will once again chair the team said, “What we do for Relay for Life means so much to all of us who have had loved ones touched by cancer in some way, and we feel grateful to be able to work towards a cure.”

Many local community members come forward to help us by donating food and raffle prizes. We are thankful to Lake Brandon Village Chick-fil-A, Dynamic Painting, and the Kohl’s Cares volunteers who, in the past, have taken time out of their busy schedules to help, and we appreciate all the support we receive.
