Grace Community United Methodist Church is excited to announce some brand new events beginning in February. On Saturday, February 16, Grace Community UMC will launch its new service, which will be held every Saturday at 6:05 p.m.  The new service is an alternative worship service for those who aren’t able to attend on Sundays. “Many of the families in Fishhawk have children in sports, have to work and have other events that prohibit them from attending church on Sunday mornings,” says Rhonda Davis, co-chair for communications and outreach ministries.

The service is named not just for the time it begins, but for the Bible passage from Deuteronomy 6:5 which states “Love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul and with all your strength.”

Grace Community’s goal is to create an intimate and casual worship experience ,“where all feel welcome to stop in and join us for a cup of coffee, some acoustic music and a relevant faith- filled message that will carry them through the next week,” adds Davis.  Childcare for children five and under is also provided.

In addition to the new service, the church is hosting its 2nd Annual Marriage Enrichment Event featuring Dr. David Clarke. Dr. Clarke, who has written 10 books on marriage, family, and parenting, is a Christian psychologist with a B.A in Psychology from Point Loma College, an M.A. in Biblical Studies from Dallas Theological Seminary, and a Ph.D in Clinical Psychology from Western Conservative Baptist Seminary.

“This was a great success last year and we are hoping that more people in the community will join in the fun this year,” Davis shares.  A “sneak peek” of his style will be provided on Sunday, February 3 during the 10:30 a.m. service at which he will speak. The Marriage Enrichment Event is Friday, February 15 from 7 to 9 p.m., concluding on Saturday, February 16 from 9 a.m. until 12 noon. Childcare is provided with a reservation.

Grace Community UMC is located at 5708 Lithia Pinecrest Rd. Call 661-8858 for more information on this and all other events, or visit the new Grace Community website at www.mygraceumc.com.
