Pediatric multiple sclerosis is no laughing matter, but it will be on Thursday, April 4 at 6:30 p.m.

That’s because the MOM’s Club of Starling/Bevis will be hosting FishHawk Comedy Night to raise funds for the National Multiple Sclerosis Society to benefit pediatric MS. In addition to this worthy cause, a $1,000 donation will be made to Open Hands Food Pantry, a weekly food pantry located on the campus of Lamb of God Church in Lithia that provides food to more than 40 families each week.

The event will feature nationally-recognized comedic hypnotist Doug MacCraw, who has been entertaining audiences for more than 15 years. MacCraw delivers a unique, hilarious entertainment experience that combines his expertise in stage hypnosis with his quick wit, humor and improvisational comedic skills.

“We had such positive feedback after he performed last year that we decided we needed to host his show again,” said event coordinator Terri Fischer. “Even I was a skeptic in the beginning, but couldn’t believe what I saw with my own eyes that night.”

She wasn’t the only one.

FishHawk resident Ed Terry enjoyed MacCraw’s performance so much he hired him to perform for his own company. “It was the most hilarious thing I have ever seen in my life,” he said. “He had people making animal noises.”

Terry said the quality entertainment was secondary to the purpose of the evening; to raise money for a worthy cause. Last year the MOM’s club raised more than $6,500 for the charities and hopes to top that number this year.

Attendees will dine on pan-seared chicken piccata with lemon caper sauce, penne pasta with a basil cream sauce, a tossed green salad, seasonal vegetables and chocolate chip cheesecake for dessert.

Single ticket prices are $40; couples tickets are $75; a table for eight can be reserved for $300. A cash bar will be available and a 50/50 raffle drawn.

The group is in need of products and services for prizes for the raffle as well as donations. Advertisement is the program is also for sale.

Busciglio Smiles is the event’s Signature Sponsor but other sponsorship opportunities are available.
