In 1988, Dr. Jeffrey Wartman formed Bloomingdale Medical Center in Brandon. Twenty-five years later, the practice, now known as Bloomingdale Medical Associates, is still going strong with Wartman still at the helm.

He was joined by Drs. Colleran and Kwan, partners in the practice, as well as Drs. Shires-Waldron and Woodiwiss, all board-certified internists. A board-certified cardiologist, Dr. Craig Martin, is also on staff. Two nurse practitioners, two physician assistants and a staff of 45 assist in providing top-quality primary health care in a timely manner.

The office, once located in Brandon, is now settled at 13403 Boyette Rd. in Riverview, at the corner of FishHawk Blvd. and Bell Shoals Rd. just behind the Walgreens. Providers will treat any patient over the age of 12; however patients less than 12 years of age can be seen for school and sports physicals.

“Bloomingdale Medical Associates is an established practice in the community offering high-quality medical care in addition to a variety of ancillary services,” said administrator Carol Nicholas.

Those ancillary services, provided at the office, include same-day sick appointments, preventative exams, Well Woman exams, school physicals, immunization, lab tests, basic x-rays, ultrasounds, echocardiograms, nuclear stress tests, bone density tests, spirometry tests, EKG’s and more.

“A result of these in-office services, other than the convenience to patients, helps in the timeliness of diagnosis which leads to fewer hospital admissions,” said Nicholas.

If patients do need to be admitted to the hospital, they see their own patients at Brandon Regional Hospital.

In addition to its quality staff, Bloomingdale Medical Associates embraces technology as a way to make life easier on its patients, who can request prescription refills and pay their bill online.

Office hours are Monday – Thursday 8 a.m. – 5:30 p.m., Friday 8 a.m. – 5 p.m. and Saturday 9 a.m. – 1 p.m.
