As biking grows in popularity, artists are following this trend and creating fabulous works of art. You can see artwork of some great local artists at this month’s Thursday Night Live! at the Beaux Arts Gallery in Riverview on Thursday, June 27 from 6 to 9 p.m.

The Bike Art Show is curated by Susan Sahab, the Winthrop Collaborative Arts Intern. Sahab said, “A lot of people like to bike, especially students at USF. As biking grows in popularity, I thought it would be great to combine this fun hobby with art.”

Bryant Martinez, the Winthrop Town Artist said, “We have a bike shop here in Winthrop. Lots of people are starting to bike.” Martinez has been instrumental in creating whimsical bike racks. There are several in Winthrop Town Centre, and Martinez is working on some for Brandon Sports and Aquatic and ECHO. In addition, 14 of Martinez’ fantastic bike racks can be found throughout the City of Tampa. All of the bike racks are made from bike parts!

Thursday Night Live! is a juried art show. You can be confident that you will be seeing the finest level of fine art at the show, and that it is a perfect event to bring your whole family.

Sahab added, “We want the community to come and see fine art. I also hope that this will be an opportunity for people who like to bike to connect with others who like to bike and even set up a group to go biking.”

As always, attendees at Thursday Night Live! will have the opportunity to meet and interact with over ten local artists, enjoy light refreshments and listen to great music courtesy of Cellist, John Mark Ligone.
