Realizing the need for a pet-sitting service in the Lithia area, resident Michelle Quessenberry opened No Place Like Home Pet Sitting, LLC., an in-home pet sitting service. People may choose an in-home pet sitting service for pets that may do better in the comfort in their own home.

“I have been around and owned animals my entire life. I wanted to be a veterinarian and volunteered as a vet/kennel tech for several years,” said Quessenberry. “I started my business here in FishHawk so that I could do what I love and work with animals.

The bulk of Quessenberry’s business has been dogs and cats and the occasional fish, however, she also takes care of a guinea pig named Sprout and a pet crab. “I am open to anything other than spiders,” said Quessenberry.

Quessenberry said that some of the benefits of in-home sitting include: Pets are not exposed to illnesses of other animals; pets remain in his or her familiar, secure environment, where all the sights, smells and sounds are familiar. In addition, your home is looked after with crime-deterrent services complimentary with all pet sitting visits. Quessenberry will bring in mail/newspapers, rotate blinds/curtains, turn lights on/off, put out trash bins for trash day, as well as water indoor plants. Text, email, and photo updates also given at each visit.

The fees for services are tailored to the individual needs of the pets. Rates range from $10 for quick, 15-minute visits to $25 for a one-hour VIP visit, which is ideal for a household with multiple pets or pets that may need additional assistance such as medication. For those whose jobs keep them away from home for lengths of time each day, mid-day dog-walking services are available to get your best friend out and about for some exercise and mind stimulation during the day.

Quessenberry is licensed, bonded and insured. For more information, visit No Place like Home’s Facebook Page which has pictures of the pets Quessenberry watches as well as reviews from clients. Or you can visit www.nplhpetsit.com for additional information.
