In June a new barber shop moved into Gibsonton that offers all the services of a regular barber shop, but with a personalized, contemporary feel. ID Barbers opened at 7130 Big Bend Rd. after noticing the area was rapidly expanding. The name ID Barbers comes from the reasoning that when someone gets their picture taken for a photo ID, such as a driver’s license, they want to look nice and these barbers can make that happen.

The shop was created to have a contemporary, loft-like feel complete with high ceilings and an array of music including folk, hip-hop and rock & roll with the intention of making everyone feel comfortable. Complimentary drinks are offered which currently consist of bottled water and juice, but they hope to eventually obtain a license to offer beer and wine. It strives to offer the old-school barber shop feel with the style and look of an upscale salon. The barbers take the time to listen to each client and ensure they are pleased with the service.

“Thanks to ID Barbers my long search for a barber is now over,” said John Smith. “Their shop is friendly, comfortable and pleasant to visit. I would recommend this shop to anyone with confidence knowing they’ll be completely satisfied.”

In order to stay competitive with the chains that stay open late and the mom and pop shops that close early, ID Barbers has extended hours to give clientele time to get home from work and still have a chance to stop by for a trim. The three Florida-licensed barbers stay open from 9 a.m.-8 p.m. Monday-Saturday and 11 a.m.-6 p.m. on Sunday. It does accept walk-ins, but appointments are also available during the week.

All the regular services of a barber shop are available with adult haircuts starting at $16 and children less than 12 years of age costing $14. There are also packages like the full-service which includes shampoo, haircut, beard trim, eyebrow trim, neck trim and hot towel for $21. Soon it will be selling products like American Crew and Paul Mitchell. It eventually would like to offer wedding packages where they would close the shop for bachelors to come in with a group of guys and get full-service treatments before the big day.
