Keel and Curley Winery located at 5210 W. Thonotosassa Rd. in Plant City recently celebrated its 10th Anniversary. As the winery celebrated this milestone, it gave customers and fellow wine lovers a chance to participate in its Golden Cork Napa Valley Taste Off.

During the month of August, 10 golden corks were placed throughout the area. The corks represented the one million bottles of Keel and Curley wine produced since its opening. Six of the 10 golden corks were discovered.

For Valrico resident, Laura DeNovi, it was an opportunity for a dream come true. DeNovi not only found one of the golden corks at the Publix on State Road 60 in Valrico, but she went on to win the Golden Cork Napa Valley Taste Off. DeNovi correctly identified six out 10 Keel and Curley Wines and won a fabulous trip for two to Napa Valley! The other finalists who found golden corks won gift baskets loaded with wine and wine-related items along with a case of their favorite Keel and Curley wine.

DeNovi said, “They poured 10 wines in a blind taste test. I was able to identify six of the wines. Winning this trip is a dream come true. I really wanted to go to Napa Valley for my 40th birthday which is in March. Now, I get to go!” DeNovi will receive a trip for two to San Francisco and Napa Valley with a steam train tour of several Napa Valley wineries.

DeNovi stated, “The Keel and Curley wines are really good. They are very easy going. My favorite right now is the wild berry pinot noir.”  DeNovi added, “In addition to good wine, the people at the winery are great. I like being able to support local businesses such as this.”

Keel and Curry was started in 2003 in the kitchen of its founder and owner, Joe Keel, a central Florida blueberry farmer.  Since 2003, Keel and Curley has grown. They now make three types of blueberry wine, two types of blackberry wine and a number of fusion wines or blended wines.

DeNovi said, “I have come to really like their wine. I tell everyone about Keel and Curley Wine, even my wine snob friends!”
