Serious dancers, ages nine and older, who wish to take their dance training to a new level should plan on auditioning for the Brandon Ballet’s Summer Intensive. The Brandon Ballet will offer several dates and locations for auditions.

The first is on Saturday, January 25 at the Dance Center, 161 E. Bloomingdale Ave. in Brandon. The second is on Friday, February 7 at The P.A.C.E. Studio located at 4634 Lori Lane in Pace. The third is on Saturday, February 15 at the School of Ballet Arts at 6685 Forest Hill Blvd. in Greenacres. Call 684-4282 to schedule an audition time. The cost is $25.

The Summer Intensive runs from June 9 through June 27, Monday through Friday.

Brandon Ballet’s Summer Intensive is three weeks of detailed ballet instruction with an emphasis on technique as well as additional classes in pointe work, pas de deux (certain levels), men’s classes, character, jazz, modern, African, conditioning and more. The program will conclude with a special presentation of choreography on the last day of the Summer Intensive.

Under the direction of Artistic Director, Octavio Martin, this year’s Summer Intensive promises to be spectacular. Faculty for the Summer Intensive will include guest professional instructors, Artistic Director, Octavio Martin and Ballet Mistress, Yaima Franco.

Admission is by audition only and class sizes are limited. Dancers who participate in the audition for the Summer Intensive can also be considered for scholarships that are available to cover the expense of the Summer Intensive. Dancers who are interested in being considered for the scholarship should inquire.

The Brandon Ballet is a non-profit pre-professional ballet company that has been training serious dancers since 1993. Brandon Ballet offers a serious training program as well as full length and mixed repertory performances each year.
