To raise money for college scholarships for high school seniors who are Riverview residents, the Riverview Woman’s Club Foundation is hosting “Hats off to Fashion,” the organization’s first fundraiser of the year on Sunday, February 9 from 1-4 p.m. at the Hilton Garden Inn, located at 4328 Garden Vista Dr. in Riverview. The event will feature a variety of spring clothing provided by Macy’s, new jewelry designs and hairstyles, a complete lunch and a ‘Fabulous Hat’ contest.

Tickets cost $35 per person and $250 to reserve a table of eight. Included in this is a salad lunch, complete with dessert, hot and cold beverages and a cash bar. The fashion show will feature all styles of clothing compliments of Macy’s. There will also be a Chinese Auction and a Hat Contest where guests are encouraged to wear their favorite hats or create their own fabulous hat.

The club is seeking sponsors for the event and donations for raffle prizes. Sponsorships of $100 include signage at the event and a display of business literature, advertising in the program, networking and recognition at the event.

“‘Hats off to Fashion’ will be a great way to preview the latest in fashion and accessories for the spring while helping to raise money for worthy high school students,” said Riverview Woman’s Club president, Jeanne Burkeson, owner of Square-One Inspection Services in Riverview, who founded the organization in 2012.

Since the Riverview Woman’s Club formed, the organization has awarded $4,000 in scholarship money to high school students living in Riverview who have demonstrated high academic achievement, community service, leadership skills and financial need. Now that the organization has established a foundation since receiving non-profit status, the foundation will award scholarships this year to graduating seniors in these individual areas.

The group meets for the purpose of getting to know their neighbors, learning about local businesses, enriching the quality of life in the community through a variety of cultural projects and programs and supporting education by providing college scholarships for local students.
