JulestarzFor a second year, the dancers of Julestarz Academy for the Performing Arts (Julestarz) will perform during a halftime show at the Harlem Globetrotters’ game. The game will be held at the USF Sun Dome, located at 4202 E. Fowler Ave. in Tampa on Friday, March 7 at 7 p.m. Forty-two dancers will perform a production number from Aladdin.

Jennifer Dowdy of Julestarz said, “We are honored to have been asked to perform for the second year for the Harlem Globetrotters’ halftime show. It is a great family event and a wonderful opportunity for our girls to showcase their production number.”

Last year, the girls performed a number called Mission Impossible.

Dowdy added, “Each year our owner/director, Julie Kenny, tries to pick a new theme for dancers to perform for the recital and for our competitions. This year was a great time to add a little magic to the show.”

Many of the dancers who performed last year will be returning this year, including Madison Dowdy who said, “We feel honored to have the opportunity to perform for thousands of people at such a popular event. It feels like we made a positive impact and that they enjoyed our performance enough to invite us back a second year.”

Julestarz has two locations, one at FishHawk Ranch and one in Riverview at Big Bend Rd. and Hwy 301. They offer ballet, tap, jazz, acro, hip hop, lyrical, modern and more.

Dowdy said, “We are one of the fastest growing dance studios in the area. We also offer musical theatre and private music lessons in piano, violin, guitar, drum and voice.”
