Recently the Hillsborough County Office of Neighborhood Relations held nominations for the Board of County Commissioner’s 11th Annual Neighborhood Recognition Awards. The Bloomingdale community was awarded several awards at the Hillsborough County Neighborhoods Conference luncheon held at the Hillsborough Community College Dale Mabry Campus in March.

The Bloomingdale Homeowners Association won the 2014 Best Environmental Program/Project award in the large division category. It was applauded for the upkeep of its resident’s yards through its Yard of the Month program which encourages property maintenance.

The Bloomingdale HOA was also awarded the 2014 Best Communications award in the large division category for its monthly publication The Bloomingdale Gazette. The County attributed the success of its HOA in large part to this publication that is delivered to 5,200 homes reaching more than 23,000 residents.

The Gazette has been keeping Bloomingdale residents informed since 1980 and received a make-over including a new publisher in October last year making it a 28 page color paper.
