Youth philanthropy effort culminates on May 3 with the Children’s Gala,
featuring Sid the Science Kid, dinner served dessert first, and explosive
science experiments.

Tampa, Fla., March 31, 2014 – The Museum of Science & Industry is giving
away 10,000 free piggy banks, generously provided by PNC Bank, as part of
its Give Change to Make Change campaign, to encourage youth philanthropy and
raise money to send 400 kids, who otherwise couldn’t afford it, to MOSI
Summer Science Camp this year. The fundraiser will culminate in a Children’s
Gala on May 3, from 5 – 7 p.m.

With a special appearance by Sid the Science Kid and emceed by PJ Whitaker,
12, of PJ’s Sports Talk, the Children’s Gala will feature dinner served
dessert first, explosive science experiments, a green slime dunk tank and a
DJ dance party, along with a variety of prizes for the young
philanthropists, including an iPad Mini for the child who raises the most
money between now and May 3.

Piggy banks are now available to be picked up in the MOSI lobby. When young
philanthropists pick up their piggy bank, they will receive instructions for
the “care and feeding” of their piggy (their favorite food is quarters, but
they also love dimes, nickels and pennies). They can bring their pig’s
contents back at any time and as many times as they want to add to the
Summer Science Camp scholarship fund. When they bring back the contents of
their pig, each child will receive a ticket for two (one adult and one
child) to the Children’s Gala.

“PNC is excited to be partnering with MOSI for the Give Change to Make
Change initiative because it directly relates to one of our core values,
building strong communities in the markets we serve,” said PNC Regional
President Joe Meterchick. “Teaching children that you can make a difference
in the lives of others through philanthropic giving will ensure that we
continue to strengthen community building for the future.”

The piggy banks and the Children’s Gala are part of MOSI’s Give Change to
Make Change campaign, presented by PNC Bank, which aims to send 400
underserved children to MOSI Summer Science Camp this year. The campaign
also includes an “add a dollar to your transaction” aspect for all MOSI
guests and an “every member” aspect, in which every MOSI member is
encouraged to donate $10 to help send a child to summer camp.

Those interested in participating in the Give Change to Make Change
campaign, presented by PNC Bank, can pick up their piggy banks at MOSI
inside the main lobby now through April 25. No purchase is necessary to
acquire a free piggy bank. Once they bring the contents of their pig back to
MOSI to donate, young philanthropists will receive a ticket for two (one
adult and one child) to the Children’s Gala on May 3, from 5 – 7 p.m.
Admission to the gala for additional parents or siblings without a piggy
bank is $10 each.

The Give Change to Make Change campaign is sponsored in part by PNC Bank,
PAR, Inc., WEDU, Florida Dairy Farmers, Red Carpet and Sunnybell. For more
