The recently formed Hillsborough County Fire Rescue Foundation held a Grand Opening Celebration on Friday, May 16 of its office located at 2709 E. Hanna Ave. in Tampa. The celebration was held locally at The Regent in Riverview.

Ronnie Rivera, Public Relations Officer with the Hillsborough County Fire Rescue and the Foundation’s President said, “The Grand Opening Celebration was organized to let everyone know about the mission of the organization and ways that people can help.” Rivera added, “About 60 people were in attendance including Ron Rogers, the Chief of Hillsborough County Fire Rescue, Sharon Subadan, Assistant Hillsborough County Administrator, and members of the fire rescue command staff.”

The Grand Opening Celebration was supported by The Regent, 3C’s Catering, MOSI, the Brandon Chamber of Commerce, Media Fusion and the Hillsborough County Fire Rescue.

The mission of the Hillsborough County Fire Rescue Foundation is to promote fire and life safety in Hillsborough County and the professional development, training and education of members of HCFR. The foundation also provides funding to the Hillsborough County Fire Rescue to educate, inform and involve the citizens of Hillsborough County in protecting life and property in the event of an emergency.

To aid with education and professional development of members of the Hillsborough County Fire Rescue, a donation of $3,500 was recently made by Bryant Martinez on behalf of the Winthrop Arts Festival. Martinez is the Winthrop Town Artist and a member of the Board of Directors of the Hillsborough County Fire Rescue Foundation. Martinez said, “Firefighters helped me when I had an accident, and I will never forget that. Being able to give a donation such as this is my way of giving back.”

“The Winthrop Arts Festival donation to the Hillsborough County Fire Rescue Foundation will be used for fire school scholarships. The Hillsborough County Fire Rescue Foundation will help identify individuals that qualify for the scholarship,” said Rivera.
