Business longevity in today’s economy is a difficult task, but not for Odiorne Insurance of Brandon. It has been a vital part of the Brandon community for 40 years. George H. Odiorne, Jr. started his insurance business in 1974. From the company’s early days in a small building next to the old Scoggin’s Department Store, it has enjoyed steady growth and has the distinct recognition as one of the leading agencies in the area.

“We have earned our reputation for professionalism because of the special attention we give to the needs, requirements and details of our client’s insurance programs,” Ryan Odiorne said. Ryan is George’s partner in the company along with his brothers Tom and Steve. Their sister, Trish, works in the office as well.

Odiorne Insurance has many ties to the Brandon community through the numerous organizations and community programs it supports.

“I think that if you are a successful business in the community, then you need to give your support to that community and the businesses in it as well,” Ryan said.

The company supports all of the rotary clubs in the area and Ryan is the past president of the Valrico Rotary Club.

“When you support rotary, you are not only supporting locally, you are also supporting internationally and that is very important to us,” Ryan said.

In addition to supporting the local rotaries, the insurance company supports Emergency Care Help Organization of Brandon, The Bill Carey Boys & Girls Club of Brandon, Life Care of Brandon, the U.S. Army and Center Place to name a few. Ryan’s mother, Pat, was the driving force behind Center Place. Her creative leadership and efforts played a major role in Center Place becoming an artist hub of Eastern Hillsborough County.  Pat passed away in 2000 but Center Place and her family keep her passion for the arts alive through the Pat B. Odiorne Scholarship.

The Odiorne family hopes to continue to grow their business and support the community as they look ahead to the next 40 years.

“We want to continue growing and supporting this great community because our community has been supporting us as well these last 40 years,” Ryan said.
