PrintThe Village Players will present Canterbury Tales or Geoffrey Chaucer’s Flying Circus beginning with Dinner and a Show on Friday, August 8 at 7 p.m. Dinner is sponsored by Paul and Tammy Holmberg, owners of the Chick-fil-A at Lake Brandon Village and the Westfield Brandon Mall location. Tickets for the Dinner and a Show are $25 and must be purchased in advance. Proceeds from the Opening Night Dinner and a Show will go toward renovations at the historic James McCabe Theatre, a 1915 historical site and home of the Village Players.

The remaining shows will be held on Saturday, August 9; Thursday, August 14 and Saturday, August 16 at 7:30 p.m. and matinees on Sundays, August 10 and 17 beginning at 2:30 p.m. Tickets are $15 for general admission; $13 for students and military with ID; and group sales for parties of 10 or more being $12 with advanced purchase.

Gail Pierce with the Village Players said, “Many believe that Chaucer’s literary masterpiece Canterbury Tales revolutionized English literature. Now, toss in a good helping of Monty Python-styled humor and improv and we create this incredibly hilarious English Comedy. Every night promises to be a different show. Over 52 characters come to life in a zany romp of medieval mischief.”

“If the audience has only half the fun the cast has been having, it will be time well spent,” said Director Hal Granholm. “There are times the script becomes a mere suggestion. The improv and audience participation guarantee a different show every time the curtain opens. I can hardly wait to see it myself.”
