The art exhibit for the month of August at the Bruton Memorial Library in Plant City is the Annual Members’ Show of the Eastern Hillsborough Art Guild (EHAG). The exhibit is available for viewing now through the end of August during normal library hours.

There are 14 artists showcasing a total of 23 works of art. There is a variety of mediums used including watercolor, acrylic, oil and photography. Some of the artists whose work is exhibited include Debra Bryant, Michael Bryant, Muriel Cook, Richard Wagoner, Lorraine Renaud, Joyce Owens and Arden Mays.

According to Punk Watson, Exhibit Chairperson, “We have a diverse variety of styles in the Plant City area.”

Debra said, “These pieces of art, previously not exhibited at the library, are representative of only a small portion of the EHAG membership. We are always excited that Anne Haywood (Director of the Bruton Memorial Library) allows us this opportunity to showcase the broad range of talent among our members. This show is one of the most viewed shows of our calendar year.”

EHAG, formerly known as the Plant City Art Club, was established in 1992. EHAG meets once a month. The first meeting for the 2014-15 year will take place on the last Monday in August. Thereafter, except for September, members meet on the first Monday of the month at 7 p.m. at the GFWC Woman’s Club of Plant City located at 1110 N. Wheeler St. in Plant City. Meetings run approximately two hours and consist of an educational program and guest artist.

EHAG has a number of events throughout the year including being host of the Hillsborough County Fair Art Show this October. This is a non-juried art show open to all residents of Hillsborough County. There are multiple awards given. For more information, visit hillsborough countyfair.com for information on entering the show. For more information on EHAG, visit www.ehagfinearts.com.
