This fall, FishHawk Fellowship Church will be offering three programs to help those who are going through divorce and also for those looking for grief support.

DivorceCare is a weekly seminar, beginning on Thursday, September 11 and will meet weekly from 7 –8:30 p.m. through Thursday, December 4.  A separate option for children ages 5 – 12 called Divorce Care for Kids (DC4K) also meets from Thursday, September 11 to Thursday, December 4.

DivorceCare is a non-denominational support group led by host churches. Attendees don’t need to be a church member to attend. Guests will learn practical information that will help them deal with the challenges of divorce and gain hope for the future. DivorceCare groups are designed so guests can begin attending any week. It offers support for those going through separation or divorce.

FishHawk Fellowship’s Barbara Nixon said, “When I was going through my separation and divorce, it helped me to know that I was not alone, and the groups really gave me tools to help deal with all of the different issues I faced, issues like loneliness, anger and forgiveness. I recommend DivorceCare for anyone who is newly separated or divorced, and especially for people who have been divorced for several years and feel like they can’t move past the hurt. The healing I’ve seen from people attending DivorceCare through the years has been tremendous.”

For those who have lost someone close, GriefShare, a Grief Recovery Support Group, can help individuals move forward from mourning to joy. This group begins Monday, September 8 from 7-8:30 p.m. through Monday, December 15. GriefShare is a friendly, caring group of people who will walk alongside through one of life’s most difficult experiences, the death of a loved one.

GriefShare is a network of thousands of grief recovery support groups meeting around the world, and consists of a 13 week video series featuring nationally recognized experts on grief recovery topics followed by leader facilitated discussion and sharing by the participants.  A few of these topics are “The Journey of Grief”, “The Effects of Grief”, “Your Family and Grief”, “Why?”, and “Stuck in Grief.”  For more information on GriefShare, visit www.griefshare.org.
