A World-Class tennis tournament featuring One-on-One Doubles, known as the third game of tennis, endorsed by the USTA will take place at Buckhorn Springs Tennis and Swim Club in Valrico on Saturday, November 1. The $4,000 Pro Tournament and a rockin’ blues concert will start at 1 p.m. and the Live Rockin’ Blues concert at 3 p.m.

The event’s Rockin’ Blues concert will feature Steve Arvey’s five-piece Electric Blues Band. Arvey’s band performed at the Clearwater Blues Festival in February and is a national touring act.

This event is unique to the tennis Industry as both a Pro Tennis Tournament and live concert take place at the same time to create a fan-friendly, party atmosphere.

The professional tennis tournament offers $4,000 in prize money with $2,000 as first prize. The tournament will feature former ATP greats Roscoe Tanner, 1979 Wimbledon finalist; Ashley Fisher, 2009 Sony Ericsson Open Doubles Finalist and Andy Lake, winner of 31 USTA National Championship titles, and other touring professionals from throughout the state and country.

One-on-One Doubles is the half-court serve and volley singles game played on the doubles court.  All points are played crosscourt with the alley included. The game’s rules enforce the serve-and-volley or there is an immediate loss of point.

Since the game’s inception in 2004, One-on-One Doubles has been played at USTA, USPTA, ATP and ITA National events. The Pro One-on-One Doubles Tournament of Ocala was televised on Tennis Channel in the summer of 2012.

Greg Jones, tennis director at Buckhorn Springs Tennis and Swim Club, said, “We are excited to bring tennis and live music fans to our inaugural, Pro One-on-One Doubles tournament here in Tampa Bay.”

Admission fee is $5 for the tennis tournament, $7 for the concert or $10 for both. A portion of the event’s proceeds benefit ALS (Lou Gehrig’s Disease). Food and beverages, including beer, will be available for purchase.

The Buckhorn Springs event is the fourth and final tournament on the One-on-One Doubles Grand Prix Circuit held this year in Florida. The National One-on-One Doubles tournament will be held at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center on Sunday, November 9.
