Staff Report

It is time to start training for the fifth Annual “Make them Smile…Give them Hope” Zach Tucker Memorial 5K and Fun Run. The communities help is needed to raise funds for children battling cancer. The chip timed event is designed for competitive runners as well as those that would rather just take a morning stroll.

All runners are encouraged to make it fun by dressing up in their favorite Halloween costumes as well. Proceeds will benefit the Giving Hope through Faith Foundation, a local organization that assists families facing a battle with cancer.

“We have been very pleased with the growth of the event over the last four years,” said Sherry Tucker, director of the foundation. “Knowing their participation was going to make a difference to a family that is in a battle with cancer really motivated all levels of runners and walkers to join in the past races. It is a great opportunity to plant a seed of giving back into children’s hearts by having them raise some funds and running the event as a family.”

Companies, schools and churches are encouraged to start a team and get in on the fun. The event is scheduled for Saturday, October 25 at Lithia Springs Elementary School. The 5K starts at 8 a.m. and the Fun Run will start at 9 a.m.

There will be a lot of fun family activities, food and entertainment after the race.

Volunteer and sponsor opportunities are available. Contact Sherry or Dirk Tucker at 685-6773, or visit the foundation at www.givinghopethroughfaith.org for more information and a registration form.
